Care For All : Understanding the Ghana Medical Trust Fund’s Mission

  National   Source : Enoch Saah  29th April, 2025 In a move to strengthen the Ghanaian economy , H.E John Dramani Mahama has launched the Ghana Medical Trust Fund also known as Mahama care to provide financial support to Ghanaians suffering from chronic illness such as cancer, stroke and among several diseases. The event took place at the medical centre of University of Ghana on April 29, 2025 , Tuesday. “I want to encourage corporate Ghana, businesses, the mines, the banks, and all the other companies, that this Ghana Medical Trust Fund, is coming to your clients who save their monies in your banks or do business with you. Some of them are even your own staff. So as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), if you give anything, consider that you are giving to your own staff or customers. Government Suspends All Post Retirement Contracts for Public Servants

E John Dramani Mahama has ordered the immediate suspension of  post-retirement contract appointments for all retired public service staff across the country. As signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama on 2 April 2025 , announced a stop to the granting of such appointments with immediate effect. E-Levy, Betting Tax and Emission Tax Abolished

 In a move that fulfills his campaign promise, President John Dramani Mahama official signed into law a series of bills abolishing several controversial taxes , including the Electronic Transfer Levy ( E-Levy ), Betting Tax and Emission Tax.This decision aligns with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) pledge to prioritize the economic relief for citizens. President John Dramani Mahama promised to abolish these taxes within his first 120 days in office . This move demonstrates his administration’s commitment to economic reform and relief for citizens. The E-Levy, introduced in 2022, imposed a 1% charge on electronic transactions, sparkling public resistance due to perceived financial strain. The Betting Tax, which levied 10% charge on gambling winnings drew backlash from gaming industry.
